Which estimate to choose?

Our advice is simple. Go with who you feel will do the best job, and your instincts.

Here is a little guide to help you choose the right tradesman for your job:-

Give everyone that visits you a written detailed description of the work you need done.

This will benefit you and the tradesman estimating for your job. Make sure you ask for a written estimate.

Get people to give you a price and make sure there are no hidden extras.

Ask if the price estimated includes materials. Some will, some will not, but if you ask for a written estimate it should say.

Ask your tradesman if disposal of waste is included in the price.

Ask to see examples of previous work as most trades will have a portfolio.

Check to see if the person or business has Public Liability Insurance. If problems do occur you know your tradesperson is covered.

Be reluctant to pay more than 20% of the total sum of your work upfront. It has become common to hear stories of customers being asked for 50% or more and then they never actually do the job or leave half way through.

Deposits are a constant debate but 20% is reasonable in our opinion.

And last but certainly not least do not rush into choosing who will do your job, take a day or a week if need be.

Once you have all your written estimates…. sit down, have a cup of tea and have a think, then make your decision.

Always leave feedback so your experience can be shared for all to see.

The majority of work we receive is through recommendation as clients inform others of our professionalism and high standard of work.
